Vasl live streaming server
Ultra-low latency live streaming, without the distance.
Vasl is a self-hosted server for sub-second live video. Ingest WebRTC, SIP, RTMP, RTSP, SRT, and NDI, then play out over WebRTC, HLS, or RTSP.
In time to answer
WebRTC stays under half a second, so the people in the session stay with the picture and a question can land while it is still happening.
Gear you already run
Cameras, desk encoders, room systems, files, and browsers publish over WebRTC, SIP, RTMP, RTSP, SRT, NDI, or a URL. Vasl takes all of them on one install.
A price you can budget
Monthly, annual, or a one-time license. Pick the machine. There is no per-minute meter on the media path.
How Vasl works
One pipeline from contribution to playback. No stitching together four services to get a stream on screen.
-
01 — Ingest
Publish from anything
Encoders, browsers, room systems, cameras, files, and URLs. WebRTC, SIP, RTMP, RTSP, SRT, NDI, VOD, or a pull from an address.
-
02 — Process
Transcode, transmux, record
Transcode a codec when the next protocol cannot take it, or transmux when it can. Record on the same install.
-
03 — Deliver
Play back, sub-second
WebRTC for people in the session, HLS when the audience only watches, RTSP when the next player expects it. Restream over RTMP or SRT.
Built for production video
Talk-back play
Publish and play in the browser over WHIP and WHEP. Opus, AV1, or H.264.
Contribution in
WebRTC, SIP, RTMP, RTSP, SRT, NDI, a file, or a URL. Same server.
Crowd playback
HLS for people who are only watching, WebRTC when they need to answer, RTSP when the next player expects it.
Codec conversion
Audio and video are transcoded when the next protocol cannot take the codec. ABR, SVC, and simulcast are still ahead.
A recording when you want one
MP4 and HLS archives, plus a window people can rewind.
Keys, not open URLs
Signed links, JWT stream keys, SSO, IP rules, and TLS.
Your app calls it
REST, webhooks, and web or mobile SDKs. The room starts when your product says so.
An install you can explain
Docker, a binary, or a package. Metrics and logs for the person on call.
